Overview‍

Dexcom has established a streamlined process for Canadian users to buy CGM products online. Dexcom asked the team to design a new way to simplify online purchases for new and existing users. The students analyzed business and user needs, iterated on several prototypes, and finally presented them as a product roadmap.

The team began with user research to identify the current pain points with ordering products in Canada. All information from these interviews were summarized in personas, storyboards and a journey map.

Using their findings, the team made informed design decisions to build a low-fidelity prototype of their solution. Over three rounds of user testing, the team completed a high-fidelity prototype that created a straightforward and transparent shopping experience for users.

Every week, the team presented to and discussed with the senior director of global e-commerce, human factors experts and of course the design team. They emphasized the importance of user needs but also aimed to elicit business goals to ensure that their prototype strikes a balance between both.

After 10 weeks, the main insights and an interactive prototype with over 40 screens were presented to over 30 Dexcom stakeholders. The different features were prioritized in a roadmap.

“Kudos for going beyond the design brief and thinking about how it would be integrated [...] Really solid."
Alex Diener, Senior Director Of User Experience Design at Dexcom
